Welcome to Georgia Studies. This course examines and analyses political, economic, social, demographic and cultural characteristics of colonial Georgia to the rise of modern Georgia. Emphasis during the first semester will be placed on Georgia’s geography, economy, and its development from its earliest inhabitants until the Civil War, while focusing on well-known and influential Georgians. In the second half of the year we will continue to explore Georgia’s development through the present day. There will also be a strong concentration on government, juvenile justice, civic responsibilities, personal finance, and the economy.
